PLT conducts research on the principles of programming, the principles of programming languages, and programming environments. The team's goals are

• to develop well-founded program design methods
• to support program design with programming constructs and programming environments
• and to bring those ideas to everyone, from high school student to script writer and professional programmer.

NU PLT collaborates with and is a part of NUPRL, the Northeastern Programming Research Lab.
